One of the joys of being a color consultant for SuperiorPRO Painting is that you meet the nicest people! Such was the case when I visited with the homeowners of this Suwanee two-story traditional. While this charming couple liked their gray exterior paint colors okay, they were ready for a change and wanted to warm things up a bit. Here is when I saw when I arrived at the home that day:
When doing an exterior color consultation, there are three things to keep in mind:
- Remain true to the look and feel of the subdivision.
- Remain true to the architectural design of the home.
- Always work from the unchanging elements of the home.
In this case, since the homeowners were not trying to do anything beyond a traditional look and feel, numbers one and two above were satisfied. Regarding number three, it was crucial to take into consideration the brick, mortar and roof colors. (Most people completely forget about the roof color! Don’t make this mistake when selecting new paint colors.)
After carefully considering the staid elements, flipping through the Sherwin-Williams fan deck to find several workable strips, pulling the appropriate 8 1/2 x 11″ paint color samples and placing them right up on top of the brick and mortar, here is the palette we decided on:
- Body: Dapper Tan #6144
- Trim: Basket Beige #6143
- Accents: Umber #6146
And here is how the house looked once it had been repainted in warm tones:
Quite a transformation, don’t you think? How do you like the new look?
